He has seen one too many allegations on social media.
Former Miami Hurricanes and Dallas Cowboys star Michael Irvin has had enough of the coke allegations.
Early on in the college football season, social media was convinced that Irvin was on drugs with his behavior on the sidelines. The same could be said about him during the 2024 season as well. In fact, Irvin has had to deal with drug allegations for a large part of his life. They did not come out of nowhere. It was something that he used to partake in.
Last year, the Dallas Cowboys’ legendary wide receiver opened up about an incident where he was arrested for cocaine possession in his prime years. Irvin spoke about the March 1996 incident that saw him arrested and eventually tried for cocaine possession.
“I had a routine, after you win the Super Bowl, before the next season starts, you get about a month, and that month you cut loose and have a good time,” Michael Irvin said on Netflix. Irvin faced potentially 20 years in prison at the time. Fortunately, he ultimately pleaded no contest to felony cocaine possession in exchange for four years of deferred probation. He also received a $10,000 fine and dismissal of misdemeanor marijuana possession charges.
The NFL also came down hard on him and suspended him for the first five games of the 1996 season. Fast forward to 2026, and the drug allegations have never gone away.
Michael Irvin Refutes Drug Use
When it comes to passion, not many people can outdo Michael Irvin.
Irvin was extremely intense and energetic on the Hurricanes’ sideline during games. It led to many allegations about whether he was involved in past activities involving Coke. On the latest edition of The White House podcast, Irvin addressed accusations that he was high on cocaine on the Miami sideline.
His incredible rant had co-host Brandon Marshall and guest Michael Beasley laughing uncontrollably.
“That’s the part that tripped me out, too,” Irvin said. “Right? I’m right there in front of the camera for five hours! So, after the game, I do a little belt thing, and everybody sends me all this stuff. ‘Man, Mike, right now, he coked up! Right now! You all on coke!’”
“‘First of all, y’all know damn well coke don’t last five hours,” Irvin said. “Y’all know damn well coke don’t last five hours! I hadn’t partaken in 20 years, but if you got some five-hour stuff, let me know! That’s just what I’m saying, man! Like, stop it! Like, stop saying this stuff! You know what I mean? You’ve been looking at me for the last five hours! Hey, there’s no way I could do something on this sideline!”
“But they’re not doing it out of reality,” Irvin continued. “They’re doing it to get to you…. When I used to get high, that’s exactly what I would say. No matter who I saw. ‘Oh, he high too!’ Because you high! You want everybody to be high, because you high!”
Michael Irvin then looked into the camera to deliver a message.
“Whenever you sitting your ass at home high, you want to think everybody else is high, because your ass is high!” Irvin explained. “I understand that, but the reality is everybody ain’t high!… ‘He needs to stop doing it.’ No, you need to put the sh*t down and stop doing it! That’s all I want to say.”
Even though he has cleared that up, the allegations will not stop fans from accusing him of it anytime soon.
