Kay Adams wasn’t expecting to hear Matt Ryan drop an F-bomb when the former NFL quarterback appeared on her “Up & Adams” show Friday.
The former 2016 NFL MVP, who retired from football in April, recalled the text his wife Sarah would send him before every game, and Adams said she was thrilled by his unexpected admission.
“My wife used to send me the same pregame text for like basically 15 years and I would check it after we would come in from the first warmups [before games],” Ryan said. “It was very simple.

“It said, ‘Do you best, f–k the rest.’
“This is from Sarah Ryan. But she would send it every week.”
Ryan explained that Sarah’s pregame message became part of his routine before getting into game mode.
“Oddly enough, it was one of those things — for me, it kind of just brought you down … You were hearing from your wife, the person that you are closest with.
“And you knew she was in it with you too — and whether it was good, bad or indifferent, however the game was going to shake out, it was all going to be good when you get home,” Ryan continued.
“…. Then I would go out [during] pregame and find out where my family was sitting, kind of make sure everybody was good there. And then after that, it was just full game mode.”
Adams couldn’t help but laugh when Ryan recalled Sarah’s texts.
“Well, we had an F-bomb already. Anybody have that on their bingo card for today?” she said, referring to those in the room while showed was being filming
“I’m sure the events team is thrilled with us right now.”
