The New Orleans Saints certainly have one of the most stacked running back rooms in the league, and Kendre Miller is just finding out. The greatest of the group is mostly because of the talented Alvin Kamara, but Jamaal Williams makes for one of the most dangerous second-string running backs on any depth chart.
That’s why it can be hard for any young player to make the roster at the position, as it would most likely mean you make it as the third string.
Second-year running back Kendre Miller has now emerged as a strong-cut candidate for the Saints, and many people are surprised by this.

Last year, Miller didn’t get much touch, having just 41 rushing attempts, 156 yards, and one touchdown on the season. A big factor in his release is that he suffered a hamstring injury, which could mean an IL stint and miss at least the first four games of the regular season.
If that did happen, it means that second-year player Jordan Mims would likely take over as the third-string tailback, even though last year he didn’t have a single rushing attempt and was targeted twice without catching a pass.
However, Miller could certainly land with a new team quickly after being released.
Kendre Miller Has A History Of Injuries
Despite the Saints drafting Miller in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, injuries have already seriously damaged his body and career.
Last year, he missed significant time due to hamstring, patella, and pedal ankle sprains. This issue has caught the attention of many people, including his head coach.
“Look, that’s a player that’s going to have to figure out how to stay healthy,” Saints head coach Dennis Allen said, according to Yahoo Sports. “Because it’s hard to make the team when you’re in the training room all the time.”
