ESPN’s Field Yates will probably admit he took things way too far after spending time in hospital with a dislocated shoulder simply so he could help decide his fantasy football draft order.
Folks take their fantasy sports very seriously. It’s often the cause of huge ego hits and, in some circles, financial regret every year. However, it’s hardly ever dangerous, while it’s rare to see anyone hospitalized with a fantasy-related injury.
Still, Yates found himself being treated in a medical facility heading into the weekend, with his ESPN colleague Adam Schefter sharing that the reporter sustained a dislocated shoulder after taking part in an activity to determine his draft order while on a beach in the Bahamas.
Schefty also shared images of his stricken comrade.
“Breaking – @fieldyates shoulder,” he wrote. “While engaging in an activity to determine the draft order in his fantasy football league at @espnfantasy Ultimate Draft Weekend in the Bahamas, Yates dislocated his shoulder, per sources. The injury resulted in a brief hospitalization, but Yates now has been discharged, and is aiming to be ready for opening day.”

“as someone who has frequent shoulder dislocations, that man has done that before,” a fan claimed. “He also absolutely took advantage of being on the clock and went to the hospital since it’d be free lol.”

ESPN will need to establish some employee safety rules moving forward. Schefter recently sustained knee bruises after racing Rich Eisen in a 40-yard dash and eating his teeth at the end.
