Former NBA champion Matt Barnes said his son, Isaiah Barnes, was hit by a car while jogging last Wednesday and then needed emergency surgery to remove his appendix Friday.
The 44-year-old Barnes shared on Instagram a photo of Isaiah in a hospital bed and flashing his middle finger.
“My guys had a tough week. Hit by a car while jogging Wednesday 🤦🏽♂️ had a bad stomach ache Friday tried to play through the Mamba Invitational, couldn’t sleep all Friday night decided to FINALLY tell his mom & I yesterday when he couldn’t move,” Barnes wrote Sunday.

“I took him to the emergency room & he had to have emergency appendix surgery. Doctor said it was the largest appendix he had ever seen that hadn’t ruptured 🙏🏽.”
Barnes posted a separate video which showed Isaiah reuniting with his twin brother, Carter Barnes, after his appendix surgery.
In the clip, Isaiah lifted his shirt and showed his scars after they shared a long hug.

The brothers are teammates on the basketball team at Encino Crespi High School.
Isaiah said he was discharged from the hospital in a post on his Instagram Story on Sunday.
“Been one tough week man,” he added on his Instagram story with a sad face emoji.
Barnes shares the twins with his ex-wife, Gloria Govan, who married Barnes’ former Lakers teammate, Derek Fisher, in July 2021.
Barnes also thanked UCLA health for taking care of his son.
Govan also shared a photo of Isaiah standing next to his hospital bed while being treated by a nurse.
Many sent well wishes and prayers, including Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders and ESPN personality Ryan Clark.
Barnes filed for divorce from Govan, a former “Basketball Wives LA” star, in January 2015, Los Angeles court records show.
The former NBA champ made headlines months later for a physical altercation with Fisher after learning about his romance with Govan.
