Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey is stirring the pot before the Ravens’ season-opener against the Chiefs on Thursday night.
Humphrey threw shade at Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce over his and big brother Jason Kelce’s $100 million deal with Amazon for their “New Heights” podcast.
“I pray for this, to go against him because he has tried to take everything from me,” Humphrey said on his “Punch Line” podcast on Monday.
“He tried to take it all from me. He has got to pay. He has got to pay for what he has done to the podcast space. How he has tried to eliminate us.
“And honestly, I don’t care who he’s dating,” Mumphrey said, referring to Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift. Did they get engaged?
“… September 6 [the Ravens-Chiefs AFC championship rematch] it’ll be pod versus pod and we’ll see what heights is higher.”
That’s when his co-host Jack Settleman chimed in.
“Maybe if you beat him, Amazon gives us the deal,” Settleman said. “… Would you trash talk him and be like, oh Taylor’s music is kinda trash? Do you think people have trashed Taylor’s music on the field?’
Humphrey, who had sarcastic undertones in his comments, clarified that it was just on-the-field trash talk.
“He be talking a lot of trash,” Humphrey said. “But he is actually a cool dude though, it’s just football trash… What can you really say (about Taylor Swift)?”
Humphrey went on to say that if he talked trash to Kelce on the field about Swift, they might just start laughing.
“Because we’ve kinda been out, but I’m gonna say it anyway. If he started laughing I’ll just laugh back. If he laughed, I’d laugh back,” Humphrey said.
“‘I was just kidding, bro! … Want to come on the show and be a guest? I probably should ask him after the game, like ‘I have a pod too, bring Taylor.’ That would do us numbers.”
