Travis Kelce was reluctant to tell his brother, Jason Kelce, details about his budding relationship with Taylor Swift when they started dating.
“I think he was very cautious about even telling me or anybody,” Jason, 36, said in Tuesday’s episode of “The Pivot Podcast,” “because the reality is, [Swift] is under such a microscope.”
The retired Philadelphia Eagles center explained that the couple was initially quiet because they wanted to be “respectful to peoples’s privacy.”
“I think they’re still trying to do that. And, like, even now, like, I want to be respectful of them,” he continued. “And I don’t want anybody to feel like … I’m violating some type of private relationship, right?”
Jason said he does not feel like it is his “place” to discuss their romantic connection.
“But he is my brother, and I’m really happy for him,” he added, noting, “You just have to be conscious of how you’re saying things because he is under such a microscope.”
While the Kanas City Chiefs tight end, 34, played coy about his relationship with the pop superstar, also 34, at first, Jason said he was not completely surprised when he found out they were seeing each other.
“There was a lead-up to it, ’cause there was a whole thing on the pod about him trying to get a friendship bracelet to her, so I knew that there was something,” the former NFL player said.
Jason was referring to Travis attempting to give Swift a bracelet with his phone number on it at the Kansas City, Mo., stop of her Eras Tour in July 2023.
Travis shared on his and Jason’s “New Heights” podcast at the time that he was unable to deliver the beaded trinket to the Grammy winner because she “didn’t want to meet” him and he left feeling “butthurt.”
