Travis Kelce does not see himself playing for another NFL team
Travis Kelce just got honest about his future in the NFL after signing a two-year contract extension with the Kansas City Chiefs. On the latest episode of Bussin’ With The Boys, Kelce was asked if he sees himself playing for another NFL team.
“The original dream was to play for Cleveland,” Kelce said. “Cleveland kid, I loved the sports town I grew up in, fueled all the sports love that I have today. In the side, I’m like ‘Go get them, Browns’ in the back of my head. But I don’t think I could ever f****** play for the Browns.
“I have so much love and appreciation for [the Chiefs], especially if Coach [Andy] Reid stays in KC, IF Brett Veach, [Patrick] Mahomes, the nucleus stays in KC, I don’t think I could ever leave the city.”
Kelce has been with the team since 2013 when the Chiefs selected him in the third round of the NFL Draft. In his 11 seasons with the Chiefs, Kelce has been selected to the Pro Bowl nine times, the All-Pro Team seven times and helped the Chiefs win three Super Bowls. Kelce also holds multiple NFL records, including career postseason receptions (165), career postseason receiving touchdowns by a tight end (19) and seasons with 1,000+ receiving yards by a tight end (7).
How long will Travis Kelce play in the NFL?
While Kelce has no interest playing for another team, the question reamins how long will he play football? The 34-year-old made it clear that he will play at least two more seasons and will then see what’s next.
“I’m at least doing (two years), then we’ll see what the future holds,” Kelce revealed. “I know there are other opportunities off the field for me. I think that was something Jason was really comfortable with, juggling whether he was going to come back. It’s just a situation, I said it the other day, I love coming into work. I have so much fun. I still got the fire to keep getting better, I still got the fire to go out there and do that (stuff) every single day. (And) I can’t really put a number on it, I just know I have two more years on my contract and we’ll see what happens after that.”
Kelce and the Chiefs will report the training camp on Jul. 20 (rookies will report on Jul. 16). They will kick off the 2024 season on Sept. 5 when they host the Baltimore Ravens in a rematch of last year’s AFC Championship game.
