Jason Kelce’s “Monday Night Countdown” debut got off to a rough start

The Kelce brothers have become national treasures over the last few years, both for similar and different reasons.

Tonight on “Monday Night Countdown,” Jason Kelce made his debut on the analyst desk for the kickoff show, and right out of the gate, it was clear he was a little underdressed.

While his co-anchors all were dressed head to toe in suits and ties, Kelce appeared in a simple button-up dress shirt that you can find at your local Macy’s.

Host Scott Van Pelt led the charge by pointing out Kelce’s wardrobe right after introducing the now-retired Eagles center’s major acolytes. Kelce is a six-time first-team All-NFL selection, future Hall of Famer and successful podcaster with his brother, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, who host the “New Heights” podcast.

Van Pelt then followed up on all those notable accomplishments by stating, “And all that said, Jason Kelce is wearing a shirt he got at the mall because he left his travel bag in the truck.”

Kelce responded with a little self deprecation. See below to watch and listen.

It also looks like his family is watching his debut, as Travis retweeted the video with the caption, “Surprised he bought another one and didn’t just go shirtless.”

It’s been an enjoyable 24 hours with debuts for new NFL analysts. Tom Brady on Sunday made his much-anticipated debut on FOX Sports, calling the Browns-Cowboys game. Fast forward to now, it was Kelce’s turn, albeit with a mall-bought dress shirt.

As the saying goes, anything can happen on live television, even if one of your anchors doesn’t have the correct wardrobe.
