The Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid continues to impress, not only for his strategic brilliance but also for his ability to build strong relationships with his players. Reid‘s coaching legacy spans decades, from his early days under Mike Holmgren in Green Bay to leading the Philadelphia Eagles and now the Chiefs.
His enduring success and close relationships with players, combined with his charismatic personality, have solidified his standing as a beloved figure in the NFL.
His former players speak highly of him, including retired quarterback Alex Smith, who had a career-defining stretch under Reid from 2013 to 2017. During those years, Smith led Kansas City to multiple playoff appearances and earned three Pro Bowl selections before handing over the starting role to Patrick Mahomes.
Reid’s secret
Smith, now an ESPN analyst, recently appeared on The Pat McAfee Show, where the topic of Reid’s famous love for cheeseburgers came up-a humorous detail that has become a meme among NFL fans.
“Andy Reid loves cheeseburgers..
His final words after every single team meeting before a game are I’m gonna treat you guys to a cheeseburger” 😂😂 ~ Alex Smith #PMSLive https://t.co/jPsCdGRXgL pic.twitter.com/rFkfpYrFJs

Smith confirmed that Reid’s affection for cheeseburgers isn’t just a joke but a genuine part of his personality, adding to the coach’s likable and relatable image.
Reid had previously revealed that he ate a large number of cheeseburgers while filming a State Farm commercial with quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
“We did a hamburger shoot,” Reid told Complex Sports. “I made a pact to myself, just being a cheeseburger connoisseur, that I wouldn’t use the spit bucket. But after about the 60th cheeseburger, I had to go there.
“Pat‘s sitting right in front of me, so I’m trying to do this and there’s cheeseburger flying everywhere at these guys. They couldn’t hold a straight face. I mean, they were dying laughing.”
