Jason Kelce praises Taylor Swift's night at the VMAs: 'So talented it's ridiculous'

Jason Kelce has nothing but praise for his brother Travis Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift.

The former Philadelphia Eagles center appeared on the “94WIP Morning Show” Sept. 12 and was asked about Swift’s wins at the previous night’s MTV Video Music Awards.

“Speaking of wins, Jason, your future sister-in-law had a bunch of wins last night with the VMAs,” one host quipped on the show.

Swift took home seven moon person statues at the Long Island, New York, event, including the last and most prestigious award, video of the year, which she and collaborator Post Malone won for “Fortnight.” She ended the night with her award tally for her career at 30, tying Beyoncé’s record.

Jason Kelce, who has officially transitioned from football player to broadcaster, said Swift is “so talented it’s ridiculous.”

“Not only as a singer, a songwriter — production-wise, she’s so involved in every facet of it,” he said on the radio show.

He said she’s among the “big names in music that have sustained over such a long time,” such as Bruce Springsteen, a mention that brought mixed reactions.

“Oh, I think she’s past that,” host Joe DeCamara responded. Jon Ritchie pushed back with, “Bruce Springsteen is ‘The Boss.'”

Jason Kelce then brought the conversation back to Swift.

“What’s so impressive about her is that it’s so self-controlled. She’s so involved in all of it,” he said. “I think that a lot of these guys, again, they were great artists and that’s what the profession is. But when you can be the great artist as well as the great business manager as well as the great producer, when you wear all of those hats, it’s just remarkable to me that she can do all of that.”

The show hosts also mentioned her status as a Pennsylvania native. While the singer launched her career from Nashville at around 13 years old, she grew up in Reading, located over an hour from Philadelphia.

“That’s such a point of pride for all of us,” Ritchie said.

Swift and Travis Kelce went public with their relationship in September 2023. The singer was photographed with her beau’s brother for the first time, fittingly, at a football game, when Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs took on the Buffalo Bills Jan. 21.

Jason Kelce described being in her “orbit” as “a lot.”

“There’s a lot of people applying attention at all times, which is positive and negative at times,” he said. “Obviously when you’re trying to be private and live your life it can be overwhelming. But she’s built up such a fan base and a contingency and an amount of people that just really, really love her, that it’s really cool all at the same time.”

The Swift connection has famously put the entire Kelce family in the spotlight, including mom Donna Kelce, Jason Kelce and his wife, Kylie Kelce.

Jason Kelce retired from professional football in March but continues to host the sports podcast “New Heights” with his brother and now serves as an NFL analyst for ESPN on “Monday Night Countdown.”

He previously told TODAY.com that he doesn’t take his platform — and specifically his family’s role in bringing together football-watching fathers and Swift-loving daughters — for granted.

“It’s really, really surreal to be in a position where you’re a unifying presence for that to take place and I think it’s something that’s not taken lightly,” he said.
