Arch Manning is apparently faster than the fastest player in the NFL if you only consider this season’s top speeds.
The Texas quarterback is known for having an arm, but no one thought he was a runner after what they saw from his uncles when they played in the NFL. Well, he wasted no time showing what he could do on the ground after coming on for an injured Quinn Ewers against UTSA on Saturday evening.
Manning rushed 67 yards for a touchdown in the blowout win, going full nitrous to show the opposition who the real roadrunner was on the night. According to Reel Analytics and Next Gen Stats (H/T the New York Post), the 20.7 mph he clocked was more than Tyreek Hill’s 20.3 when the Miami Dolphins wide receiver scored an 80-yard touchdown in Week 1.

Hill is the fastest player in the NFL and has been for a while, although his crown is under threat with Manning’s former Texas teammate Xavier Worthy smashing the Combine record en route to getting drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Worthy had the fastest run in college last season, clocking 22.7 mph. Arch was only 2 mph slower than the wide receiver when he took off on that dash this past weekend.
“When the adrenaline kicks in, it helps you run a bit faster,” he told reporters after the game.

Of course, his rush didn’t surpass the 23.24 mph Hill set as a rookie with the Chiefs in 2016, nor did it shade the 21-plus speeds he touched last season on a few occasions, but he’s been faster than the Dolphins star so far this term.
Meanwhile, the QB could get his first start for the Longhorns against Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday, with Ewers still questionable after being diagnosed with an oblique strain.
