The New York Jets have parted ways with head coach Robert Saleh following another dismal start to an NFL campaign.
Saleh had the excuse of being without his starting quarterback last season but has failed to get the team firing in 2024 despite the veteran’s return to full fitness.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, he was informed that his services were no longer needed around 10 a.m. on Tuesday. Team owner Woody Johnson has since released a statement in which he also indicated that defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbright would be taking over.

“This morning, I informed Robert Saleh that he will no longer serve as the Head Coach of the Jets. I thanked him for his hard work these past three-and-a-half years and wished him and his family well moving forward,” the statement reads.
“This was not an easy decision, but we are not where we should be given our expectations, and I believe now is the best time for us to move in a different direction.
“Jeff Ulbrich will serve as our Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the season. He is a tough coach who has the respect of the coaches and players on this team. I believe he along with the coaches on this staff can get the most out of our talented team and attain the goals we established this offseason.”

The Jets went 2-3 under Saleh in their first five games this term and have never had a winning season with him in charge.
Woody Johnson Actually Never Hired Robert Saleh
It’s also been pointed out that Jonson never actually hired Saleh, with NFL reporter Ari Meirov noting that the head coach was brought in by Christopher Johnson, Woody’s brother.
Woody was somewhat distant from team affairs back then as he worked as an ambassador to the United Kingdom under the Trump administration.

After getting the HC everything he needed to compete, he’s clearly grown tired of the lack of results.
