Buffalo Bills GM Brandon Beane admitted that he went big-game hunting for one of the league’s premier players before completing a trade for Cleveland Browns Pro Bowl wide receiver Amari Cooper.
On Tuesday, Brandon Beane acquired Cooper and a 2025 sixth-round pick from the Browns in exchange for 2025 third and 2026 seventh-round picks. The five-time Pro Bowler is in the final year of his contract.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Beane revealed that he previously inquired about the availability of Las Vegas Raiders All-Pro wideout Davante Adams before the latter was traded to the New York Jets, per Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News.

Adams was traded to the Jets for a conditional third-round draft pick that can become a second. The perennial Pro Bowler had long been linked to the Jets, due to his previous history with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay.
The 4-2 Bills will host the Tennessee Titans at Highmark Stadium on Sunday, while Adams is expected to debut with the Jets in their Sunday night road contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Brandon Beane Has Aced The WR Trade Market
Brandon Beane made the tough decision to trade All-Pro receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans in the offseason, which carried a $31.096 million dead money hit. The 4-2 Bills are doing just fine without Diggs, and now they have Cooper to enhance their push for a Super Bowl.
Beane received a second-round pick from the Texans in the trade for Diggs. He didn’t even have to pay that much to get Cooper, whose career production isn’t that far off from Diggs’ since they entered the league together in 2015.
