REPORT: Cincinnati Bengals Are Considering Making A Major Addition To Their Stadium That Would Give Their High-Powered Offense A Huge Advantage

New reports indicate that Hamilton County is considering putting up a dome over Paycor Stadium, home of the Cincinnati Bengals

This could turn into a huge development for a couple of reasons.

First, it would make it the eleventh stadium with a dome covering it. It would also make it one of the few teams, along with the Vikings, Colts, and Lions, with a dome to keep the team and fans safe from cold temperatures.

Many domed stadiums are in place because of heat and humidity, which is why the Cardinals, Raiders, Saints, Falcons, and Texas teams use them.

Cincinnati averages about 23 inches of snow annually, with a lot falling in December and February, peak times of the NFL regular season.

Most of the time, though, conditions like this can be seen as a home-field advantage if you’re playing a team from a city that doesn’t get cold temperatures or snow. That’s why it was a surprise when Detroit and Minnesota both opted for domed stadiums.

Of course, it is only under consideration now, and no plans are yet in stone. This is a big decision that could take some time.

Paycor Stadium Is Still Relatively New

With so many teams getting new stadiums, Paycor Stadium is in the middle of the pack regarding the oldest NFL fields.

However, it finished construction in 2000 and is still not even 25 years old.

At the time, it was renowned for how nice it was, becoming the first NFL stadium to win an AIA design award.

It cost $455 million to complete, which doesn’t seem like a lot compared to SoFI Stadium, which was just under $6 billion, but it’s still serviceable.
