NBC slammed for showing Donald Trump once at Jets vs Steelers: ‘Taylor Swift gets a segment’

Donald Trump supporters have slammed NBC’s broadcast of New York Jets at Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night for only showing the former President once during the game.

Trump was in the stands at Acrisure Stadium with video going viral of fans nearby waving at him and chanting ‘USA’ at a break in play – filmed by his deputy director of communications, Margo Martin.

The former president, who is vying for re-election next month against Kamala Harris, was shown on TV for a few seconds near the end of the first quarter – with many of his fans unhappy given how often Taylor Swift is shown at a Chiefs game supporting Travis Kelce.

Martin’s video was retweeted on X by the author John Le Fevre, who said: ‘On average, NBC shows Taylor Swift seven times during an NFL broadcast. Tonight, they showed Trump only once, and just for a few seconds.’

Many fans took to social media in agreement, with another saying: ‘I’m amazed NBC showed Trump at the game.

Trump was only shown once on the NBC broadcast of the game on Sunday Night Football

Fans were unhappy Trump got shown a lot less than Taylor Swift does at Chiefs games

‘It was very brief, but you know it killed NBC to have to acknowledge Trump’s presence. But if it was Taylor Swift, they would have dedicated a three minute segment to it.’

A different viewer wrote on X: ‘Taylor Swift is shown by NBC sports at least five times a quarter. But a U.S. President is only showed once for a span of three seconds. Pathetic.’

Charlie Kirk, the YouTuber and Trump supporter, tweeted incredible footage of the entire stand beneath Trump chanting ‘USA’ with the caption: ‘Actual footage of the Steelers game tonight NBC won’t show you.’

Swift’s television time at Chiefs games hasn’t always been popular with NFL fans, despite her huge global fanbase outside of football.

And a tongue-in-cheek verdict from another viewer on Sunday night’s game read: ‘The NFL should only show Taylor Swift during the game as much as they show Donald Trump.’

Swift has come out in support of Harris for next month’s election – a view that is at odds with Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick, who has publicly supported Trump.

‘I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me, and the fact that MAGA is the greatest and most powerful Political Movement in the History of our now Failing Country,’ Trump wrote on Trust Social back in September.

‘With Crime and Illegal Immigration totally out of control, INFLATION Ravaging all Americans, and a World that is laughing at the stupidity of our hapless ‘leaders,’ it is nice to see someone who loves our Country, and wants to save it from DOOM.

‘What a great couple – See you both at the Super Bowl!’

Trump is a big football fan and on Saturday, had controversial ex-NFL player Antonio Brown speak at one of his rallies in Pennsylvania.

Brown, who left Pittsburgh when he was traded to Las Vegas in 2018, mocked Democrat candidates Kamala Harris and Tim Walz when addressing the crowd, before helping register Trump voters at Acrisure Stadium prior to kickoff on Sunday night. Trump, meanwhile, has been spending time in western Pennsylvania as he tries to win back the state that went his way in 2016 but flipped blue in 2020 in next month’s election.

And he also last week appeared on the Bussin’ with the Boys podcast, hosted by former players Will Compton and Taylor Lewan.

Before the game, he posted an amusing picture of himself in Steelers uniform on social media

There, Trump spoke of his admiration for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, how he once tried to buy the Buffalo Bills franchise, and his admiration for UFC chief Dana White.

Before he arrived at the Sunday night game, he left fans in stitches after sharing a bizarre AI photo which shows him in Steelers uniform, seemingly confirming the team he would be rooting for in Pittsburgh.

And if that was the case, he wouldn’t have left disappointed on Sunday night as the Steelers recorded a 37-15 win over the New York Jets,
