Paige Spiranac has pointed out one problem with Netflix‘s decision to air a clip of Mike Tyson‘s bare backside on live television ahead of his bout against Jake Paul on Saturday.
The former undisputed heavyweight champion was bested by the YouTuber-turned-boxer at the AT&T Stadium in Texas on Saturday.
It was the first time Tyson has stepped into the ring since his exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr in 2020 and the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ suffered a unanimous decision defeat by the 27-year-old.
Prior to the ring walks, Tyson was seen on Netflix’s live broadcast preparing for the fight backstage in his changing room.
He appeared for an interview with his son Amir, during which Tyson revealed how he was feeling before embracing his son with a hug and a kiss.
He predicted a ‘violent win’ to the fight, before walking away from his son and the camera.
A bizarre twist of events followed as it appeared Tyson was not wearing any briefs under his pants, with Netflix’s cameras appearing to broadcast his bare backside live on television as he slowly paced his way across the room.
‘Mike Tyson’s pre-fight interview got real cheeky,’ Netflix wrote on X (formerly Twitter) prompting many to voice their views on the moment, while some called out Netflix’s poor streaming quality.
Golf glamour girl Spiranac was another who voiced her views on the viral moment, with the 31-year-old writing on X: ‘Oh but it’s a problem when I do it.’
It comes after the golf influencer, who has over four million followers on Instagram, has previously hit back at her detractors who have criticised her for wearing revealing outfits.
Last year the American had claimed that some of her outfits ‘really rub people up the wrong way.’
Speaking to Sports Illustrated, she explained why her background competing as a gymnast has an impact on what she chooses to wear both on the golf course and in her day-to-day.
‘I was a gymnast before I switched to golf,’ said the former Cactus Tour member.
‘I was so comfortable wearing spandex and very little of it because that’s just what you wear when you’re wearing a leotard and you’re competing.’
She added that she had been ‘struggling a little bit financially’ and ‘did not have the luxury to go out and buy a whole new golf-appropriate wardrobe.’
Instead, she says she wore what she already had – her workout clothes and subsequently learned how to play the sport.
But Spiranac was left bewildered as to why other players did not wear their comfort clothes more often.
‘That was always my mindset when I got into golf, and it really rubs people the wrong way which is shocking,’ Spiranac added.
‘They’ll have really intense discussions over if they should wear shorts or pants or a blade collar or a real collar and I’m just out here just in tank tops or spandex and people are like ”What are you doing?”’ But I love it.’
While PGA Tour players are not allowed to wear shorts during competitive rounds, LIV Golf has taken the step to allow its stars to wear shorts.
‘We are starting to see that change and fashion is a big part of growing the game and it’s moving in the right direction,’ Spirinac said.
The 31-year-old also told the Up and Adams Show with Kay Adams that some people can often feel intimidated about playing golf due to its stuffy and often traditional values.
‘I think that a lot of people are scared to get into the game of golf because it can be very stuffy and it can be not very welcoming at times,’
‘Because you’re so scared about “what am I wearing, what am I doing, am I gonna – you know – upset a member at a country club or all of these things”.’
In recent months, Spiranac has been linked to making an appearaance in Happy Gilmore Two, after Adam Sandler has recently got the ball rolling on a sequel for his iconic 1996 film.
Travis Kelce has also been promised a cameo role in the hugely anticipated sequel.
