Travis Kelce’s dream of starring in the Top Gun franchise might be put on hold as Miles Teller warns the Kansas City Chiefs’ ace might have to wait until he bows out of the NFL and professional football for good.
Kelce, aged 34, is an avid movie fan and is very keen on acting and producing flicks to be adored around the globe and Top Gun would be the potential crème de la crème of what is only a budding career but Teller, who starred in Top Gun: Maverick in 2022, suggested he isn’t right for casting at the moment.
“You gotta be…there’s no pilot that looks like [Travis Kelce],” Teller said to media at a mixed zone conference. “[He can play the role] when he retires and loses a bunch of muscle mass, then yeah, maybe.”
Kelce, who stands at a cool 6ft4in and weighs around 250lbs, is a drastically different build to that of a fighter jet pilot who are small and light, more comparable to Formula 1 drivers than football players.

That’s because of the tiny cockpits they squeeze into and the value of a lighter pilot in regards to aerodynamics and the speed of the jets, although it is a movie so we could theoretically suspend disbelief within reason.
Will Travis Kelce be in Top Gun?
So far there is nothing conclusive linking Kelce with a role in a third film in the Top Gun series, and he is only just getting his career off the ground by appearing in FX’s Grotesquerie so a leading Hollywood roll might be some years away yet.
Starring alongside Niecy Nash, Lesley Manville and Courtney Vance in the horror-drama television show, Kelce is reported to have impressed next to his peers however, according to the director.
“Since @killatrav came to play with us on set for a while (the acting chops are there),” Larry McGhee posted to social media. “I told him in return, ‘I’ll be watching football this season. Let’s go, Kansas City Chiefs.'”
