Patrick Mahomes has revealed he sat and watched football while wife Brittany was in the hospital giving birth to daughter Golden Raye.
The A-list couple announced on Monday that they had successfully welcomed their third child.
Fortunately for Mahomes, the quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, the team had secured a bye in the first round of the playoffs and he could be there to welcome the family’s latest addition.
But the football obsessed Mahomes ensured he still got his NFL fix by watching the playoffs in the hospital.
He said on Tuesday ahead of their divisional round showdown with the Houston Texans: ‘It’s been cool. I mean I’m just supporting. Brittany crushed it. It’s been cool to welcome another baby girl into our family and see how our other kids react to her and having baby sissy and stuff like that.
‘It’s been a lot of fun and it was cool that football was on TV when I was in the hospital so I got to watch a little bit. Brittany was kind enough to let us watch football while she was getting ready to give birth to our second daughter.’
When asked if managing parenthood and playing in the NFL has become easier the third time, Mahomes added: ‘I don’t want to say anything because Brittany is doing everything and I’m just trying to be supportive.
‘It was cool that we got the bye because you can just really focus in on being at the hospital and being in the moment. It’s a special moment that a lot of dads and moms have experienced and you don’t forget about that stuff.
‘I’m glad I was able to be there and support in the way I can. I’m good with three for right now. We’ll see down the line maybe. My goal was always three. We’ve had three and will stick there for a while and see if we need to come back and get another one later on.’
