The Kansas City Chiefs are about to begin their playoff journey as they hunt for a third successive Super Bowl, and Travis Kelce, who is in a relationship with Taylor Swift, might be thinking about retiring.
With Swift now becoming a bigger part of Travis’ life, coupled with Kelce coming to the end of his storied NFL career, the 35-year-old might like to ride off into the sunset after the 2024 season finishes.
Having accomplished everything there is to do in the NFL, Kelce has nothing left to prove as, for most people, he sits at the top of the greatest tight ends to ever play in the league list.
But with his relationship with Swift becoming more involved, could Travis be looking end call time on his NFL career? Speaking on the Stephen A. Smith Show, Kelce gave his thoughts on a possible retirement.
“I’ll reevaluate it as I always do,” Kelce said. “And I’ll probably tell myself how much I love this thing and I’ll come back next year. It’s something you have to keep in perspective man. I never want to get to the point where I’m not helping this team win or I’m hurting this team more than I’m helping this team. As long as I’m coming out here and playing good football and enjoying coming into the building every day with my guys, you’ll see me in a Chiefs uniform.”
The next few weeks could prove decisive in Travis’ career plans.
If the Chiefs manage to make history and claim a third straight Super Bowl, one could envision Kelce looking around at what he’s done in his NFL career, looking at his blossoming relationship with Taylor, and riding off into the sunset.
Even if the Chiefs don’t win the Super Bowl, that could be a realistic option too.
But right now, Travis isn’t naive to where he stands at this point in his career. Will 2024 be his final NFL season? We don’t know, and Kelce doesn’t seem to know either.
