The Buffalo Bills will visit the home of the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game, which will decide one of the two tickets to Super Bowl LIX.
The game will feature for the fourth time in playoff history a matchup that is becoming a tradition, between two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL: Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes.
Both passers met once before in the pre-Super Bowl stage in the 2020 season, when the Chiefs beat Buffalo 38-24, with a brilliant performance by Mahomes, who had 325 passing yards and three TDs.
It will also be the ninth game between the two, with a curiosity in their meetings, since in four of the five regular season games the winner has been Josh Allen, but the three duels between them in the postseason, Mahomes has led Kansas City to victory.
In fact, the Chiefs are the team that has cut the Bills’ dream of returning to the NFL title game since the 1990s, in three of the last four seasons.
After the Chiefs defeated Buffalo in 2020, they won again a year later in the Divisional Round in overtime 42-36, in one of the best games in league history, and in the 2023 season Kansas City defeated Buffalo 27-24, also in the Divisional Game.
In addition, the Chiefs are still in search of a third consecutive NFL title, something that has not happened since the Super Bowl era began, while after losing four consecutive Super Bowls more than 30 years ago, the Bills are trying to give their loyal fans their first NFL championship ring.
