Rumors are swirling that Taylor Swift is in the running to play Rapunzel in Disney‘s upcoming live-action remake of Tangled, sparking excitement among Swifties and Disney fans. The claim gained traction after a post from the popular gossip account MyTimeToShineHello on X which made waves by suggesting Swift’s name was being considered for the role.
However, while the rumor quickly garnered attention, it also sparked a wave of skepticism, with many fans accusing the account of just trying to stir the pot.
“Can’t believe this needs to be said, but this isn’t bait-this is from a casting sheet. That’s how I got these two casting scoops out before the trades,” a post from the account read.
They also pointed to a previous claim they made about Matthias Schoenaerts being eyed for another role, which was later confirmed. This gave some fans reason to believe that there might be more truth to the rumors than initially thought.
Taylor Swift as Rapunzel
If Disney is indeed considering Taylor Swift for the role of Rapunzel, it wouldn’t be the first time the pop superstar has been linked to a movie project.
Swift is no stranger to the big screen, having appeared in Cats (2019) and Valentine’s Day (2010), as well as providing voice work in The Lorax (2012).
Despite her limited acting credits, Taylor’s strong presence on stage and screen has made her a versatile performer, and her iconic long blonde hair has led to inevitable comparisons between her and Rapunzel, whose own flowing locks are central to her character.
However, some fans are voicing concerns about the age difference between Taylor and Rapunzel. Rapunzel, in Disney’s animated Tangled, is canonically only 18 years old, while Swift is 34.
As Taylor Swift‘s potential casting continues to dominate fan discussions, Sabrina Carpenter‘s name has surfaced in connection with the role. Carpenter has long been associated with Disney after playing Maya Hart on the popular show Girl Meets World.
