Patrick Mahomes Had To Apologize To Chiefs Fans For His Embarrassing Moment On The Field That Was Captured On Live TV During AFC Championship Game

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes poked fun at himself for totally botching the spike touchdown celebration in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against the Buffalo Bills.

The Chiefs were trailing by one point with just over 10 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter of the AFC title game when Mahomes found the end zone on a 10-yard run to put Kansas City up. The home team would never trail again, squeaking out a close 32-29 victory to clinch their third straight to trip the Super Bowl.

After putting his team ahead, Patrick Mahomes attempted to perform the good ol’ football spike touchdown celebration. Let’s just say that he’ll either need to work on his spiking skills or retire the celebration altogether:

Mahomes later took to X/Twitter and apologized to fans for messing up the spike celebration, adding that the botch is why he doesn’t normally try to do it

Patrick Mahomes had another field day against the Bills, completing 18 pass attempts for 245 yards, one touchdown, no interceptions, 43 rushing yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns.
