The 29-year-old Deebo Samuel sat down for an interview with Mike Garafolo during Washington Commanders training camp. In March, the San Francisco 49ers traded the All-Pro wideout to the Commanders in exchange for a fifth-round pick.
As he concluded the interview, Garafolo stated that he would typically offer a handshake, but not to Samuel since the veteran wideout is dealing with a jammed finger. Garafolo awkwardly realized that he wasn’t supposed to mention that and told the cameras to “edit that part out.”
Samuel’s response was even more priceless:
It happens to the best in the business, Mr. Garafolo. We’re sure Mr. Samuel understands that it was an inadvertent slip-up.
Deebo Samuel Looks To Rebound After Frustrating 2024 Season

The 2024 season was a nightmare for a 49ers team that was one play away from a Super Bowl 58 triumph. Injuries to key players derailed the season, as the 49ers limped to a last-place finish in the NFC East with a 6-11 record.
But 2025 marks a fresh start for Samuel on another Super Bowl hopeful. If he stays healthy, Samuel should fare much better than the 2024 player who finished with only 806 yards of offense and four total touchdowns.
