Concerned NFL fans think that Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered another concussion that went undetected in Sunday’s season opener against the Indianapolis Colts.
Nothing went right for Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins in their ugly 33-8 loss to the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. Tagovailoa completed just 14 pass attempts for 114 yards, a touchdown, two interceptions, one lost fumble and three sacks.
Because of Tagovailoa’s well-documented and worrisome concussion history, it’s hard not to cringe and fear for his health any time he takes a sack.
That’s exactly what happened when Tua Tagovailoa got rocked by Nick Cross on this sack in the second quarter:
Fans expressed worries after seeing this video.
“Legitimately—I don’t know how he is cleared to play, period. He should be forcibly retired for his own safety,” one fan wrote.
“Either he needs to retire, wear a guardian cap, or be put in a bubble then,” another said.
“Of course he did. Time to retire,” wrote a fan.
As ESPN reported last year, Tagovailoa had three documented concussions between the 2022 and 2024 seasons. Tagovailoa missed four games to injury in 2022 and six games last season because of injuries.
Even if Tagovailoa avoided a concussion in Sunday’s game, the bottom line is that Miami won’t have a chance if the pass blocking is as terrible as it was in Indianapolis.
