2025 was simply not to be for Jayden Daniels.
He was coming off a spectacular rookie campaign, during which he led the Commanders to the NFC Championship game, a feat they hadn’t achieved since the 1990s. Many expected him to be the same dynamic player in 2025.
Unfortunately, a rash of injuries has kept him off the field. It, unfortunately, reminded a bunch of fans of Robert Griffin III, who also came out guns blazing before injuries took his career from him.
Daniels’ mother, Regina Jackson, pleaded with fans to stop comparing her son to Robert Griffin III after he sustained a hamstring injury, saying, “I wish you would stop manifesting RGIII on my son. Words are powerful, and that’s all that’s talked about.”
It turns out that she was correct.
Jayden Daniels’ mom made that plea just last month, less than two weeks before he would suffer a dislocated elbow.
How Long Will Jayden Daniels Be Out?
The Washington Commanders were getting blown out in prime time Sunday, and then it got much worse when Jayden Daniels, who was still in the game and running the ball in the fourth quarter, landed awkwardly on his left non-throwing arm.
It was a graphic injury, which was a dislocated elbow, according to ESPN.
Daniels had a temporary cast put on his left arm as he left the field and went into the locker room.
An MRI later Monday will reveal the full extent of the damage.
This is not Daniels’ first injury this season. He had missed time with knee and hamstring injuries.
The NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year is unlikely to throw the ball again during the 2025 season. Based on the injury, Jayden Daniels will be out for the season, but should be ready by Week 1 of the 2026 season.
For the season, he has 1,184 passing yards and eight scores while completing 62.5 percent of his passes
Washington is just 3-6 this season, and it has shifted to a massive underdog when it comes to making the playoffs without Daniels.
