ESPN first reported that he had been arrested for a driving violation but made it clear that he would be playing in the game.
Reporter Jeff Darlington further added details of the incident on ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown.
“Tyreek Hill was pulled over for speeding and then got in a verbal spat with police,” Darlington said.
“He was handcuffed and later released.
“He has been cited for reckless driving after ‘an altercation with police in a verbal form.”
Later, while at Hard Rock Stadium, Jeff Darlington spoke to Tyreek Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, who explained more about what led to the situation.
He also stated there would be an investigation into Hill being thrown on the ground.
“We will investigate,” Rosenhaus said. “We will look out for Tyreek.”
“It’s a heartbreaking situation… No. 1: He’s okay. No. 2: He’s gonna play… How things escalated… in handcuffs and being held on the ground with police is mind-boggling to me.”
