Jason Kelce Reveals Story Behind Travis Kelce’s Fake Childhood Name

Former Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Kelce shared a heartwarming and humorous childhood story about his brother, Travis Kelce, ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs‘ playoff game against the Houston Texans.

Jason Kelce, now an ESPN analyst, was on-site at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium to cover the divisional round showdown between the Chiefs and the Texans.

As the ESPN crew noted Travis Kelce’s unusual choice of wearing shorts despite the chilly temperatures in Kansas City, they asked Jason Kelce about his brother’s personality growing up.

Jason Kelce recalled that Travis Kelce was always the “crazy guy” in their neighborhood, particularly during the snowy Cleveland winters. They both enjoyed reckless fun as kids, often playing in the snow without much regard for the cold.

The conversation, shared by New Heights on X, then shifted to a funny moment from their childhood.

Jason Kelce revealed that Travis Kelce had once told everyone in their neighborhood that his name was “Charles,” after his favorite NBA player, Charles Barkley.

Jason Kelce laughed as he shared how the neighborhood believed Travis Kelce had really changed his name.

“We found out at a block party cause all the other parents said, ‘There goes Charles.’ That’s the kind of kid Travis was,” the former NFL star said.

As Travis Kelce continues to dominate on the field, Jason Kelce is in awe of how far his brother has come, from the energetic kid with big dreams to a seasoned veteran leading the Kansas City Chiefs.
