Commanders Fans May Have Jinxed Their Team By Doing The Unthinkable Ahead Of NFC Championship Game Against The Eagles

Washington Commanders fans are understandably excited ahead of their NFC Championship showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles, but the game is likely already decided, given the actions of some among the fanbase.

The City of Brotherly Love will play host to the highly-anticipated matchup. It’s also the home of the famous Rocky statue.

The sculpture, which was inspired by Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky Balboa character from the titular franchise, has brought good luck to the city, but only because rival fans go out looking for it.

It’s become a bit of a habit to dress the statue in rival gear ahead of a big game, but teams whose fans do this have never beaten the Eagles at home. It appears Washington Commanders fans may not have been aware of this, as they’ve done exactly that ahead of Sunday’s clash.

“BREAKING: #COMMANDERS FANS HAVE DECORATED THE ROCKY STATUE IN PHILADELPHIA; multiple fans who have seen it confirmed,” MLFootball tweeted on Friday.

“it was a good run washington,” a fan wrote in the comments.

“Agree it never ends well,” another chimed in.

The Washington Commanders May Be In For It Now

The Washington Commanders are really keen on rattling Philly in the buildup to the championship fixture. The team’s offensive coordinator, Joe Whitt Jr., sent a warning to the NFC East champs on Thursday, urging them to keep quarterback Jalen Hurts in the pocket as they plan to hit him like a running back otherwise.

Hurts always presents a threat as a runner and scored a touchdown on a 44-yard run over the Los Angeles Rams last weekend.

The Commanders are preparing for the possibility of the QB trying to exploit their defense with his feet, but the warning might only serve as motivation for a team already brimming with confidence.

Add that to the Rocky disrespect, and Washington might be in for some heat.
