Simone Biles went off on critics of her husband Jonathan Owens.
The Bears safety posted a heartfelt message on Instagram to Biles after her gold medal win in the all-around team gymnastics event, writing “Witnessing history every time you step on the mat. Congrats baby on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!!!! Just wow!!!! 8 of them!!!!! So thankful I was there to see it.”
Fans immediately ripped Owens, who wore his wife’s medal around his neck, in the comments for allegedly stealing Biles’ spotlight.
“WHY do u have the medal on there is NO REASON,” one Instagram user wrote.
“why he holding it like he won it,” another commenter said.
“That’s Simone’s gold medal you’re holding, not yours my guy,” a third person said on the post.
Even TikToker Kiera Breaugh jumped into the fray, telling Owens to “take her medal off” in a viral post.
Biles apparently saw enough after that, clapping back at the social media hate her husband was garnering.
“Crazy thing is, I put my medal on every single one of my family members and took pictures. So don’t ever make assumptions,” Biles wrote in a comment on Breaugh’s TikTok video. “Like y’all are so f–ing miserable. Leave us alone.”
Breaugh would later speak to Biles’ comments, conceding that the criticism may have gone too far.
“I’m honored to be told to f–k off by such a talented woman,” she said in a second video. “I can’t be mad if she told him to [put the medal on] … maybe he is really taking notes.”
